About

Dr. Gopal Paudyal is a senior Nepali poet, epic writer, playwright, lyricist, critic, editor, journalist, filmmaker, and educationist live in London UK since last 37 years. With an outstanding career spanning literature, journalism, theatre, and education, he has made lasting contributions to Nepali language, culture, and academia both at home and abroad.

He began his career with Himanchal Weekly in Nepal and later worked with the BBC Nepali Service in London, connecting global Nepalis through language and culture. In 1992, he founded Sagarmatha Times, a handwritten Nepali newspaper in London, to promote Nepali journalism among the diaspora. Deeply concerned that Nepali children in the UK were losing touch with their mother tongue, he established a free Nepali school, personally funding transportation and teaching the language to children from Nepali families. His work stands as a remarkable example of cultural dedication and community service.

In February 2000, Dr. Paudyal became the first Nepali to establish a college in the UK, founding the Boston College of London. The institution has since supported many students in completing Master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees under his guidance. He is also a principal founding partner of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and served as the chief rapporteur of its first world conference, helping to build the foundation of the global Nepali community.

Dr. Paudyal is also recognized as the first person in Nepal to produce a VDO (video) film, pioneering digital filmmaking in the country. He has written, directed, and performed in several stage dramas that explore human values, morality, and social justice, earning acclaim in Nepal’s theatre scene.

Academically, Dr. Paudyal has obtained multiple degrees in journalism—from Diploma to PhD level—from the University of West London, Bienvalle University, Anglia Ruskin University, and California University VCE. His education reflects a lifelong pursuit of excellence in communication, literature, and cultural studies.

Fluent in both Nepali and English, Dr. Paudyal has published numerous books, epics, poems, and essays in both languages. His writings combine philosophical reflection with emotional depth, blending classical tradition and modern thought. As an editor, he has led several literary journals and inspired emerging writers through mentorship and guidance.

A pioneer, educator, and visionary, Dr. Gopal Prasad Paudyal continues to dedicate his life to promoting Nepali language, literature, and culture across the world. His legacy stands as a testament to creativity, knowledge, and service to humanity.

Dr. Gopal Paudyal ‘Mandane’
